Things You Should Do After Hair Colour!

After you have spent hours and hundreds of dollars getting your hair colour change to your ‘Pinterest Perfect Coloured Hair’, it is the time to keep it fresh and vibrant for as long as possible. Taking a good care of your hair colour affects how long it lasts. Here are few tips that can help you take care of your beautiful coloured hair!

  • DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR - AT FIRST

“How long do i have to wait before washing my hair?” This is probably the most common question we usually get from our clients. We recommend to wait at least three days before shampooing your hair after colour. This three-day waiting period gives ample time for the cuticule to close and the colour to set.

  • PROTECT YOUR HAIR FROM CHLORINE

Have your hair coloured does not mean you can not get into the swimming pool at all! Our Director-David said by applying some conditioner to your hair before you jump into the pool or beach can help to lock the moisture and protect it from the chlorine or sea water. But if you can avoid chlorine water as much as possible that will be amazing!Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

  • AVOID HOT WATER

Freshly-coloured strands should be sure to avoid hot water, because the hot water will lift the outer layer of hair colour and cause colour to fade. Instead, rinse with cold or lukewarm water as it will help seal up the cuticle and lock in your fresh colour.

  • USE UV-PROTECTION PRODUCT

Just like your skin, it is the same thing for your hair. The sun dulls your hair and fades your expensive hair colour. Likewise, it damages the cuticle, which leads do dry, brittle hair, split ends, discoloration, and frizziness. And how do you prevent that from happening? You can use conditioner or leave on serum to moisture it and block the UV rays from hitting it.

  • STRECH OUT YOUR WASHING CYCLE

Our professionals stylist always recommend our clients to do wash their hair at least every three days. Over-shampooing not only strips your hair colour but also the natural oils that your scalp produces, which are essentials for the health of your hair and scalp. In other way, you still can use conditioner everyday(instead of shampoo)and rinse it throughly! Dry shampoo is also a perfect option to keep your hair fresh untill your next wash.

  • INVEST IN A COLOUR-SAFE SHAMPOO

There are so many options of shampoo out there, but when it goes to hair coloured shampoo you may have to think again. Doing a little research on google before buying can help you figure out wether it is worthy or not. Our Goldwell Shampoo is one of the shampoo that you may need. As gentle as water, the unique FadeStop-Formula minimize colour fading with every use.

  • KEEP AWAY FROM HEATING TOOLS

Last but not least, try and keep away from straightening or curling your hair using heated irons. High heat is not good for coloured hair and make it lose moisture. But if you have to, alternatively you can apply heat protectant serum or spray before using the heated irons.

With a little extra effort, you can enjoy your trendy hair coloured and keep your hair healthy too!
